I’m a huge fan of independent bookstores, and prefer to forgo large chain stores in order to spend my hard-earned where it helps the little guy. Of late, I’ve found this principle a little harder to stand by, since North American stores are just so darn cheap! So, whilst I plan to spend up at McNally Robinson on Monday, I’ve picked up some extreme bargains over the last few days courtesy of the evil chain stores. Eat Pray Love and Olive Kitteridge were picked up at Wal Mart in Grand Forks for just over $10 each. Tinkers was bought at Costco in Winnipeg for $11. How could I say no?
In less-evil shopping news, Nora Ephron’s I Feel Bad About My Neck was picked up at the local library’s used book sale for $2.50. Unbeatable.

I’ll be interested to hear how you like Tinkers and Eat, Pray, Love. The former seems to have had some iffy reviews and I personally was not a fan of the latter. I do want to read Olive Kitteridge though!
Thanks for stopping by! I hadn’t heard much about Tinkers when I purchased it and I have to admit I’m not always blown away by Pulitzer winners…I think maybe they’re too deep for me 😦

I haven’t really found Tinkers that appealing. But it’s short, and if I must, I can read it on my lunches or something at the bookstore. 🙂
